I sat in front of my computer today and asked myself, how can I possibly save money? Amazingly, I was surprised at what I found! There are so many bargains and opportunities out there that many people don’t know about. The types of websites I looked at were the comparison websites, general google searches, money saving forums and in the local newspapers.
The newspapers didn’t really help. Yes, there’s adverts for products but there’s no money saving and usually they are simply promoting products I don’t need.
People usually want to save money on their credit cards, their shopping, their car and get a great deal on luxuries but without the expensive price tag!
Money Saving Ideas
We found a number of ways to bag a bargain, which many people are taking advantage of. Saving money doesn’t have to be an arduous, complicated process. It can be fun and enjoyable, plus can be completed from the comfort of your house or office desk.
These are some of the ways people can save money:
- Discount Code
When you’re shopping online you will have undoubtedly come across the section “promotional code” or “Discount coupon” where you are asked to enter a special code for money off. Usually we don’t have a code and we just press continue. Well DON’T!
Take two minutes and visit Google. Type in the name of the shop and then “discount code”. Check the first page as there will probably be a code which you can enter to get money off your purchase. Once you start to get to know the best money saving discount code sites you should bookmark them so you can go back in the future.
You can often save up to 50% using a discount code website. I use them all the time for Dominos pizza and they are great!
Vouchers have been around for a number of years, but usually through the newspaper. Now, with technology, you can print off vouchers, or even use your phone to get money off your products. Sign up to the newsletters of the brands you like as the discounts usually come direct from them.
You can also visit websites so vouchers which can be printed off and redeemed in the store. You can save lots of money with vouchers!
General deals will always exist. Companies will give money off at certain points throughout the year. For instance, in my local supermarket the juice I buy was half price. I would have bought it anyway, but it still saved me 50% off the cost. Deals can be sought from a wide range of locations like newspapers, TV, Radio and also the web.
Deals can often be difficult to sniff out but there are usually certain times when you can expect a deal. For example, buying a new car after Christmas will usually see you get a discount because sales will be low. Premium TV services, like SKY TV and Virgin, will offer discounts on their packages after Christmas and just before their end of year (usually around June) when they need extra sales.
This was the area I was most surprised by. The number of free competitions you can enter is huge! Everybody says the same thing, “you never win anything”, which means most people will eventually win something because of the low interest. Well I say get entering! There are thousands of competitions which you can enter and usually for good prizes.
To find competitions look about your local area, they are usually well signposted. Check online too, there’s thousands of them available and free to enter. However, be aware, you may find your spam mail increase.
Finally, something everybody should keep their eyes open for is a good freebie. On the internet there are people giving everything away and sometimes for free. Just search for freebies on Google and the list is endless. Some of it will be worthwhile and some will be a waste, but interesting nonetheless and definitely with the potential to save you money.
Ways to Save Money
There are lots of places you can go to save money, from comparison websites to people driven forums but I found a place which I thought has the potential to grow and be a real money saver.
Saving Money Forum is a website where people can add their own saving money tips and get the benefit and credit for sharing. The forum shares the best tips, vouchers, discount codes and money saving offers from around the web. Anybody can join too so it’s easy. What I love about the Saving Money Forum is that it’s not just deals where they make money, it’s everything from a deal on the high street to where to buy cheap bread. It’s every day saving which we all need!
