I started Debt Advice Resource with simple objectives and I’ve used these recently to help me make a decision on a content writing offer I received. My objectives when starting Debt Advice Resource were:
- To help people avoid the same mistakes I made.
- If people were in a difficult financial place, I wanted to give them the information and knowledge that I accrued during my time deciding on the best debt solution.
- To “pay” something back. It was important I didn’t just go bankrupt and not share what happened, why it happened and my thoughts on how it could be prevented. Understanding the problem is the first step, I believe, to resolving the underlying personal debt crisis in most countries right now.
- I did it for myself. I had a weight on my chest. Doubt, disgrace, shame and anger all consumed me on a daily basis and it’s not healthy. This blog helps get my thoughts out my head and onto a computer screen. I also felt that other people will have felt exactly the same and perhaps we could help each other.
An Offer I Received
I received an email last week which offered me the opportunity to write for another website. They said my experience of money and debt could be an advantage to their readers in meeting most of the same objectives as I listed above.
It’s not a lot of writing, perhaps just one article per week, but it’s interesting that other people have read my work and think there’s a story or support I could offer on their own website. The news based website will feature stories about finance and debt which will give me a great opportunity to write about debt in today’s society. In turn, hopefully this will mean more people visiting my website and helping to spread the advice and support which is available.
What Will People Gain?
A question I’ve got running through my head is what will people gain? I mean, anybody who doesn’t like the fact I’ve been in debt and out the other side and now I’m sharing my experience, who is on my blog, can easily leave and never return. However, the new online news website has a good following and I’m sure many won’t agree with my point of view. In truth, I can see this being a larger challenge than what I originally wanted with Debt Advice Resource.
But, I’m not scared of the challenge. I realise that the opportunity to deliver the above objectives just expanded into a new realm. I have the opportunity to share my experience across a number of different social groups and influence others. It’s a challenging time and I’m sure one I’ll grow into.
What Does This Mean For Yakezie?
I’m not making any money writing for this new online news blog about debt and my experience of debt. I started the Yakezie challenge to keep me focussed and ensure my mind was on getting the help to people who need it. There are still millions of people in the UK struggling with debt problems and have their “head buried in the sand” just waiting for the day when it becomes too much. Most people will pick up the phone and seek help for a debt charity, but others might take more drastic action. I know my mind certainly went there.
Yakezie is one of the greatest finance content writing networks in the world. The support from the people is huge! It can’t be underestimated how important Yakezie is and the beliefs the network has are uncompromising.
I will be continuing on the Yakezie challenge and will complete the 6 month challenge and then continue to write on this blog as my primary focus.
It’s Nice To Share
Being told my writing was valuable and interesting made me feel great. I want to give that feeling to other people. So, I’ve decided to allow other people who have been in debt to write about their experience on the Debt Advice Resource. My experience is exactly that; one person’s view of being in debt. There will be better and worse experiences than mine and people deserve to hear their story too.
If you would like to get involved and tell people about your experience of debt, please let me know and I’ll be glad to publish your story. You can email me at contact @ debtadviceresource.com to send me your story.
