Is a Protected Trust Deed safe?

Is a Protected Trust Deed safe?

There’s a number of different debt solutions in the UK to deal with debt, but there’s differences in England, Wales and Northern Ireland to Scotland. The Scot’s law is different so debt solutions are regulated by a different organisation. In Scotland, Insolvency solutions are regulated by the AiB, whereas the rest of the UK is registered with the Insolvency Service. A Protected Trust Deed is a Scottish debt solution which helps a person become debt free, but is it too good to be true? Trust Deeds – Are they safe? Is Anybody Worth £40 Million?

Is Anybody Worth £40 Million?

A musing which kept me awake last night, “What would it be like to be valued in my job at £40 million”? I know, highly unlikely, but that’s what happens to many sports players and film stars. The value of a person isn’t determined by their income, however would you want to be a sports star or celebrity earning millions every year? Care Home Fees: It Just Get's My Goat!

I fear the days when I get old, wrinkly and elderly. I can’t imagine what that day will be like, however, I for one am not looking forward to it! If I’m in a care home, I’m sure it will be the best place for me. In the room next to me will be other retired and elderly people. Yet, before I get to enjoy my retirement in a care home, I plan to have paid off my property so I can leave it to my children. Under new Government changes to care home fees, my plans may have to […]

Top Finance Articles This Week

I’m reading a large number of finance blogs from around the world and I have already found my favourites. However, I’ve expanded my network to read more new and exciting articles. Other finance bloggers have got impressive writing skills, which, simply by reading their articles, has improved my own skill set. What Impresses Me? I like to read controversial or topical content which takes an existing problem and opens the door to discussion. Many people may debate over the recent SSE price increase however, my view isn’t about who’s right or wrong – both points are valid. The critical element […]

How many more price increases do we have to endure? Commodities that are vital to survival should not be allowed to be sold on a commercial basis. Companies that control petrol, gas, electricity or water can manage the supply and demand. So, it’s not surprising to see another energy company raise their prices. This time it was Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) which is increasing prices from 15 November. There are 7 million customers currently with SSE however it’s anticipated the other 5 energy firms are preparing to increase their prices too. Change Energy Supplier SSE will be increasing their […]

Should Debt Be Written Off?

Should Debt Be Written Off?

I spent my afternoon yesterday in an hour long debate which felt a little like question time. The topic of conversation was “should debt be written off?” One of the reasons I started the Debt Advice Resource blog was to have discussions about social topics, such as debt and money. So, it won’t come as a surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed the debate on whether debt should or shouldn’t be written off. In many UK based debt solutions there is an element of debt write off. This means that the consumer repays a percentage of their debt (sometimes it’s 0%, […]

10 Reasons To Solve Debt Problems

10 Reasons To Solve Debt Problems

Sometimes the hardest decision to make is the right option. It’s taking the first step that’s the hardest part. You can be aware of a problem, even know what to do to resolve the problem, but be unable to take the necessary steps. Maria Robinson once said Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. It’s with this sentiment that I’ve compiled my top 10 reasons to get active and solve those debt or money problems. It’s not the end of the world being in debt – there is […]

FCA & Payday Loans

FCA & Payday Loans

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has plans to crack down on payday lenders from exploiting vulnerable customers. It’s come just in time in my opinion. From April 2014, payday lenders will have to ensure that their clients are able to repay their debt, PLUS they will only be able to roll over the debt twice. FCA are also planning to restrict the amount of times lenders can collect from a client’s bank account after complaints from borrowers that they are draining there bank accounts without any warning. Some people had believed they would ban advertising from the payday lenders however […]
